What do you mean by bonus shares and cash dividend?

Bonus shares and cash dividends are two different ways that companies can distribute profits to shareholders.Cash dividends are a distribution of cash to shareholders, usually on a quarterly or annual basis.

Shareholders receive cash payments in proportion to the number of shares they own. Cash dividends are paid out of a company's profits and are a way for a company to return some of its profits to shareholders.

On the other hand, Bonus shares are additional shares that a company issues to shareholders, usually without any additional cost. These shares are issued in proportion to the number of shares already held by the shareholder. Bonus shares are issued out of the company's reserves and are a way for a company to increase the total number of shares outstanding, and therefore increase shareholders' equity.

In short, cash dividends distribute cash to shareholders, while bonus shares distribute additional shares to shareholders. Both are ways for companies to return profits to shareholders, but they differ in terms of the form of the distribution.
